Is SiteLock blocking your website?

If your site is listed by SiteLock — SiteLock “Malware detected”, a TrueShield/SMART scan flag, a host-pushed “your site is blacklisted” notice (HostGator/Bluehost/Network Solutions) — it usually means it was hacked or abused at some point. Here is how to get cleaned up and delisted.

Step 1 — Make sure the site is actually clean

Requesting delisting while the problem is still live just gets you re-listed. Check first:

If anything turns up, get it fully cleaned first — removing the visible malware is not enough if a backdoor remains.

Step 2 — Request delisting from SiteLock

SiteLock is a paid security service; blacklist help is delivered through its cleanup plans. Start here: sitelock.com help center

  1. Confirm which engines list the site (e.g. scan at VirusTotal).
  2. Have SiteLock perform/verify a manual malware clean.
  3. For Google, fix issues then request a review in Search Console → Security & Manual Actions.
  4. On a paid manual-clean plan, SiteLock performs the blacklist-review steps with Google on your behalf.
  5. Submit your URL for review to each remaining blacklist individually.

Good to know: SiteLock has no public self-service delisting form — it is a paid service often upsold by hosts when an account is suspended. Actual delisting still happens at Google and each third-party engine. (Prefer to keep it in-house? I clean and delist directly, USA-based.)

Step 3 — If it keeps coming back
